The Audition Doctor

Since the 1970's, each week for nearly 20 years, I wrote a column for Backstage Magazine called "THE AUDITION DOCTOR".

Having played thousands of musical auditions for actors and singers, I saw that so many people desperately needed help. From the huge amount of mail I received because of my weekly advice, I have always wanted to continue offering my experience and coaching knowledge.

One of my main aims with this new web site is start writing it again. The audition process never changes, only the material you use. For most budding actors and singers auditioning often becomes a nightmare, so I hope, through this column to take away their pain and instill a confidence that will get them the parts they are after.

In this section you can look for fresh recommendations of what is most suitable for up-coming auditions. I welcome your questions (use the Feedback page), and will try to answer each of them in a column every few weeks. For emergencies or individual service, a nominal charge will enable me to help you out personally.

I would of course also encourage you to request my book 'AUDITIONING FOR THE MUSICAL THEATER' which has now been published in three separate editions. This work is now a required text in many schools around the country.

Here are a few samples of my columns from 'Backstage' which may be of immediate help to whomever needs it.
